Family and Community Empowerment
Family and Community Empowerment
The Community Schools program brings in and connects families with services that meet the needs of parents and guardians while engaging the larger community. Families are empowered through sharing their feedback via assessments and participation in the Community School Forum.
Expanded Learning Time
Expanded Learning Time
We create opportunities for students to learn before school, after school, and during the summer. The Community School budget has funded after-school tutoring, violin and chess lessons, family literacy workshops, and much more.
Wellness and Integrated Student Supports
Wellness and Integrated Student Supports
We bring programs and services to support physical, mental and emotional health. We partner with Optical Academy for vision screening and to provide glasses to students who need them and we host twice-yearly dental clinics with Smile New York Outreach.
Attendance Matters
When the four features of the NYC Community Schools program are successfully implemented, students should be increasingly excited and committed to being in school every day and on time and, families will have the support needed to help reach this goal.
